The goal of IV sedation or hospital dentistry is to provide a safe, high-quality and efficient treatment in a comfortable environment. There may be several cases when our dental team may recommend IV sedation or hospital dentistry, including but not limited to:
- Children with medical or behavioral diagnoses where it is not safe to treat and the child’s physician may request it.
- Severe dental caries where treatment visits and invasiveness of the dental work may traumatize the child.
- Severe dental anxiety or phobia.
What are the benefits?
At Floss Boss, Dr. Sanghavi has done over fifty operating room cases and is credentialed at Capital Health Hospital currently. She is committed to providing your child with specialized care and continuously monitoring them. One of the biggest benefits of hospital dentistry is that it can be completed in one visit with the aid of a complete dental and medical team.
Similarly, IV sedation also helps complete the pediatric dental procedure in one visit but is generally done in the private office. We have an anesthesiologist who will come to the office and help with the sedation aspect, while our dentists and assistants will safely perform all the dental work.
Both techniques help to reduce fear and anxiety for invasive treatment and are excellent options for behaviorally complex, medically complex or children with sensory complexities.
